Overcomer!

I am Joy Watkins-Jones, a six year cancer survivor. In 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram. I was extremely devastated, but I held on to my faith nevertheless. I underwent chemotherapy and a double mastectomy. Today, after such an ordeal, I am proud to say that I survived breast cancer.

In 2022, I resolved to help survivors and those who are currently battling this gruesome disease. With this intention, I launched Joy’s Hair Repair Breast Cancer Foundation. Since then, we have been working assiduously in the greater Hartford area to educate, and empower fighters, survivors as well as caregivers.

We have partnered with the Connecticut Department of Health early detection program (DPH) to host forums, screenings, and health fairs. We look forward to our continued involvement in the communities in the coming years as we endeavor to support families in facing hard times due to cancer.
